10.2.1 Highlights
- “Scale Out” optimizations for concurrency
- Moved SiteMigration task to startup rather than relying on first request/locking

Scale Out
Scale out (or horizontal scaling) is the process of adding more compute instances to a system to distribute workloads, rather than scaling up a single compute instance. The following diagram describes the Scale-Out architecture which was the focus of the 10.2 release.
Shaun Walker did a demonstration of an on-premise environment running 2 IIS websites in separate App Pools, both pointed at the same local folder where Oqtane was installed, using Garnet for distributed caching, and Redis Insights to display the cache items. He demonstrated how modifying some information in one IIS website is immediately reflected in the other (ie. cache synchronization). The context for this demonstration was to show how the scale-out capability is also possible in a non-Azure environment.
Marketplace
Some enhancements to the Marketplace have been on the roadmap for quite some time now. Specifically, the Marketplace was originally designed around an "App Store" model where all interactions happen directly between an Oqtane installation and Marketplace services. This model imposed some limitations, which will be addressed in the version of the Marketplace which is expected to be released later this month.
- Marketplace purchase flow now requires Marketplace login
- Purchase flow no longer requires Installation Id
- License activation is decoupled from purchase flow
- Trials are now a standard product license
- Oqtane installations are now integrated based on a Marketplace user account
- Upgraded to .NET 10, converted to Oqtane Application
These enhancements will affect the various user flows which are available in the Marketplace. The following diagram describes the user flows.
Demonstration
Shaun Walker did a demonstration of how an Oqtane installation will be connected to the Marketplace in the future, via a new configuration tab in the Module/Theme Management UI.
It was noted that these enhancements require changes to multiple independent components: the Oqtane framework, the Licensing component, and the Marketplace service. Efforts are being made to support backward compatibility for older Oqtane installations or extensions using the current Licensing component, however there may be some functionality gaps.
Roadmap
The next release will be 10.2.2 in July and will be a maintenance release. Following 10.2.2 will be a 10.3 release in August/September which will be a major release focused on Folder Providers.
Folder Providers provide the ability to store content files outside of the Oqtane installation. Folder Providers complement the "scale-out" story which was implemented in 10.2. Ben Zhong submitted a PR (#6064) containing an implementation for Folder Providers a number of months ago and it is expected to be merged/optimized for the 10.3 release.
Events
The 2026 Trailblazor Conference was held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. The focus of the event was on creativity and innovation in the Microsoft ecosystem. The conference featured 5 speakers from Microsoft (Daniel Roth, David Ortinau, Adam Ratzman, Brady Gaster, Luis Quintanilla) and 5 speakers from the .NET community (Shriram Sankaran, Scott Galloway, Shaun Walker, Rocky Lhotka, Michael Washington). Recordings are undergoing post-production and will be published on YouTube and linked via the TrailBlazor website once they are available.
